Focus
We focus on start-ups and scale-ups with a positive impact on people, animals, and planet. We work within the following focus areas:
Empowerment and social inclusion
Initiatives aimed at strengthening marginalized, vulnerable, or excluded individuals and groups socially and economically.
This can refer to people who are excluded from full participation in society based on their age, education, social background, alternative lifestyle, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.
Happiness and health
Initiatives aimed at bringing about a positive change in the happiness and health of humans and animals.
Key priorities include caring for the mental health of young people and young adults, shaping and developing cultural entrepreneurship, and reducing meat and dairy consumption by promoting plant-based eating.
What we do
We support impact-driven entrepreneurs in the following ways.
1. Assisting in the further development of the social entrepreneurship concept.
What societal problem is being addressed? Is the concept well-refined? How about the economic feasibility?
2. Providing seed and growth capital.
This involves participation and/or a (convertible) loan. We directly invest in the impact-driven enterprise and not through a fund.
3. Offering guidance in organizational development.
Depending on the needs, this can cover business strategy, business economics, leadership and management, personnel development, marketing, and more.
With who
We connect with highly motivated, impact-driven start-ups and scale-ups that are working on solving a societal issue. A characteristic of these enterprises is their desire to combine entrepreneurship with making a positive contribution to the world.
The organizations we collaborate with are operationally independent. These enterprises can be active and/or based in both the Netherlands and abroad.
We will start our collaboration based on mutual trust and a shared ambition. Building this trust requires getting to know each other. If there is a connection, we delve deeper. This applies to both personal and business aspects.
If this in-depth exploration has a positive outcome and produces common ground, we jointly determine the next steps.

Our ambition is to contribute to a social and sustainable world in collaboration with impact-driven entrepreneurs.
NoorderImpact is an independent investment company. We provide support and seed and growth capital to impact-driven enterprises. Social impact is our primary goal, with financial returns being a derivative.
At the same time, it is important for us to ensure our existence and that we can make reinvestments. We achieve this through loan repayments, interest and dividend payments, and the sale of investments.
NoorderImpact is owned by Stichting Koersvast, a non-profit foundation.
The origins of Stichting Koersvast and NoorderImpact lie in the maritime world. These maritime roots can be traced back to the initial participation by NoorderImpact, which supports the care and assistance of sick and injured Filipino seafarers.

NoorderImpact participates in IJsbaart
IJsbaart develops and markets plant-based food concepts with a focus on plant-based ice cream. They started selling their ice cream at festivals and are now ready to conquer the Netherlands. Impact investor NoorderImpact is happy to assist with that!
Sjoerd Zijlstra from NoorderImpact on the participation in IJsbaart: “This initiative fits perfectly with our aim to promote the consumption of plant-based food. We believe that IJsbaart is capable of introducing plant-based ice cream to a wide market in an accessible way.”

NoorderImpact acquires a stake in AIM on crew recovery
AIM focuses on the reception and care of repatriated Filipino seafarers. (Co-)founder Anker Insurance Company and impact investor NoorderImpact aim to professionalize and to expand AIM’s operations.
Key areas of focus include (training) programs to promote the mental and physical well-being of seafarers and an expanded accommodation and guidance for repatriated seafarers.
